Meet Us

Hi! Our names are Hannah and Zoha, and we are two high-school students living in Washington, D.C, USA.

Zoha's passion for girls' education developed when she made a speech on the topic in seventh grade. Since then, she has worked on multiple projects to learn more about why girls in developing countries face adversity when seeking education. One of these projects took place in Pakistan in 2014 through in-person interviews with Pakistani teachers, students, politicians, and policy makers; Zoha concluded her findings in a final research report. Although Zoha's work has been focused in Pakistan, she hopes to travel to other developing countries and conduct similar projects through HER.

Hannah has always believed education is a gift, and with that gift comes the responsibility to give back. Since ninth grade, Hannah has been motivated and committed to improving the educational lives of girls in developing countries. When she hears stories about girls like herself, who are excited about learning but don’t have the resources to go school, don’t have access to books, and don’t have a supportive environment to explore their ideas and dreams, she feels determined to help them overcome these challenges. Hannah discovered a shared passion with Zoha and the two began sharing ideas and developing creative ways to educate others and to provide resources to girls in developing countries.
